When entering a Horizon Clinic one of our friendly receptionists will greet you and confirm and check your appointment and personal details. The clinician will then call you by name and introduce themselves to you and take you through to the consultation room for your appointment whether it’s an ultrasound scan, x-ray or steroid injection. They will explain the process of the examination.

If at any time during this process you have any questions please feel free to ask and discuss with the person performing your examination.

Having an Ultrasound

It is important that while the ultrasound scan is underway we ask that anyone you bring along to the examination with you is quiet so that our professionals can focus on your examination. It is advisable not to have young children present at the ultrasound scan to avoid them becoming restless and making it difficult for the sonographer to concentrate and focus on the medical examination. If you have no option but to bring a young child then please also have a supervising adult in attendance as well as we want to provide the best scan possible for you.

If you prefer to have a female sonographer to perform your obstetric scan then please make this known at the time of booking your scan with our call centre staff. If an internal examination is required then your consent will be obtained and you have the right to decline in all circumstances. If the clinician is a male then a chaperone will be present at this examination.

For an ultrasound, you will be able to see the scan live on a viewing screen.

Having an X-Ray

If you are having an x-ray, only the patient will be allowed entry into the x-ray room unless the patient is a child or requires assistance or an interpreter.

Our aim is to make your visit to Horizon Radiology as stress free and supportive as possible and we strive to be on time for all appointments.
